The walks I did felt very different this week after hearing Spike and Alvine tell their stories. I decided to make sure I sat and truly think about what was shared with me and I am still trying to process it all. I decide to go when the sun would begin to set and sit and stare at the sky. The sky has always been comforting and reminds me of the vastness which was nice as my thoughts seemed to preoccupy my mind to the point where it would feel confining. I really wanted to focus on what was around me, as Spike's stories about riding the log to escape, I tried to imagine how the air would have felt and focus on the coolness as I sat. There were many people walking and biking the path as it was busy, I tried to picture them as the rushing water or compare them at least, this brought me some sense of the flowing nature of every day and how it's not often that peoples experiences/stories can almost stop us in our tracks and make us take a step back.
